Old vinyl solves an old mystery

When I was a teenager I picked up Cheech & Chong's 1973 LP, Los Cochinos and listened to it over and over. The one thing that always baffled me about it was that they ended it on such an inexplicably dull note--a song called "Basketball Jones". It made no sense to me, and I didn't find it funny in the least.

Tonight, thanks to an old K-Tel album from 1973 that I'm listening to for the first time, it FINALLY makes sense. Track 3 on side 2 is "Love Jones", a sappy pop song from 1972. What I had always seen as a dull ending to a great album was actually a parody of a dull song. I get it! Mystery solved. Tom happy.
