2022 is already shaping up to be a busy one for me, musically speaking. If you ever wanted to see what I’m up to, you will have quite a number of opportunities. Here’s what’s happening so far

One of my favorite things about Apple Music is the abundance of curated playlists. Inspired, I decided to create my own playlist of songs with (IMHO) great bass parts. Maybe it’s the part itself, maybe it’s the tone, maybe it’s just the attitude. Whatever the case, they’re here because I love and appreciate what was played.

The last year has been interesting for me musically. I’ve taken on new challenges, stepped well outside my comfort zone, and made some good progress. Here’s a relatively quick recap of what happened.

In that brief moment during the eighties when the Steinberger bass was all the rage, I picked up a knock-off. Sadly it spent about 25 years sitting in my attic, derelict. That is, until I finally decided to bring it down and rehab it.

Who knew that turning episode titles from the old Wonder Woman series into Harry Potter book titles could be so much fun!

If you're like me and enjoy digitizing old vinyl for your own enjoyment and edification, I'd like to give you a Heads Up about a very common practice record companies used when pressing double albums. It's a small thing, of course, but it can trip you up.

I set aside about two hours to perform minor surgery on my bass. Got it done in only half an hour!

Since I can't justify the expense of a new 5-string bass right now, I decided to expand the range of my current 4-string. The trick is figuring out which is the right replacement part so I don't end up doing damage.
