Where's the bass?

I've felt the need lately to shed my large studio headphones in favor of in-ear earphones. On Sunday I picked up a pair of Ultimate Ears 600vi earphones and have been using them since. Frankly I am a tad underwhelmed by them. They're not bad by any means, but the bass is surprisingly weak.

Thinking that maybe I'm missing something, I went to Amazon to read some reviews and see what others have to say about them. That's where I first heard of the concept of "burning in" one's earphones. Basically you play loud and varied music through them for about 12 hours straight, then take another listen. Supposedly that makes certain components more supple and responsive. Seems somehow reasonable, doesn't it?

Gonna have to try that overnight and see what happens. I hope to be pleasantly surprised in the morning!
