Legendary voice actor Don LaFontaine died yesterday of a collapsed lung, a complication from pneumothorax. The man who coined the phrase (and now, cliche) “In a world…” at the beginning of countless movie trailers is gone. The pity of it is that only a couple years ago did he achieve any sort of name or face recognition. He appeared in a Geico commercial or two, finally allowing us to put a face to the voice. Not that he needed that level of fame. He was doing just fine without it.
Still, that amazing voice is no more. He was 68.
