Before Firefox, before Safari, before Internet Explorer, Opera, iCab and even Netscape, there was Mosaic. Before CSS, tables, frames, centering and JPEGs, there was Mosaic. The big brain behind Mosaic went on to co-found Mosaic Communications, which was soon forced to change its name because the university where Mosaic was developed held the trademark.
The animation you see here is from their 0.98 beta browser. Though it was released as Netscape, it still bore the old Mosaic Communications logo. I found that browser while rummaging through some old Mac discs, brought it into ResEdit and snagged the individual cels. From there it was off to GIF Builder. Bada bing, bada boom, done. Enjoy.
